How bad is having bad lifters and leaking valve stem seals??
Ok now that ive pretty much figured out that i need new lifters for the ticking noise in my car and that the blue smoke coming out of my muffler when i start it mot likely means i have leaking valve stem seals, how much will it effect my cars perfomance and life? also are these things able to be done by me?? (i have all of mechanics tools in my garage, my mothers fiance used to be a mechanic but does not have the time to do these things for me.)
IF your sure your lifters are shot, the simple solution would be the shop around for a complete cylinder head, meaning is has the valves lifters springs ect, and paying someone to install it. It would cost most to have someone build it and then install it. Having the proper tools is only half the battle. Its not an easy task, and will require atleast a day or two.
