Do You Need An Egg Tray For HAtching Quail Eggs In An Icubator?
Hi I Have A "1602N -- Thermal Air Hova-Bator" And I'm Trying To Hatch Quail Eggs. I Read The Guide For G.Q.F. Manufacturing Co. And It Said To Have The Larger Side Of The Egg Up. But I Was A Little Confused How Could A Get Them To Stand Big Side Up? I Thought I Could Put Them On The Sides Of The Incubator But They Wouldn't Get Enough Heat(Or Too Much). So My Final Conclusion is Do I Need An Egg Tray? (I'm Thinking Probably Yes).
If I Do Need One Where Would I Place The eggs In The Center So The Heat Would Distribute Some What Evenly?
Thanks,

I have a small incubator and hatch just a few chicks at a time so I use those small rubber bands to help hold the eggs in place and keep the larger end slightly elevated and I turn by hand. Your incubator sounds larger and with many eggs requiring turning, I would think you should get the auto turning tray to make it easier and less time consuming. If you can't do that, egg racks will help and they are very cheap, just a couple of dollars a piece. I keep mine in the center of the rack for even heat distribution.
