Taper Punch Set
Has anyone had experience with the "punch and taper" method?
I hear it helps a bit against rejection along with a surface barbell, but it seems really painful...
I'm getting my hips done in a few weeks and I'm set on doing a surface piercing for various reasons (so, thanks for the microdermal suggestions but that's not what I'm interested in).

Has anyone had this procedure done? If so:
- could you tell me a little about your experience?
- any pros/ cons?
- do you know if the punch will leave an awful scar?
- know how likely is it for the piercing to not get rejected?
- how did you find a piercer that does this? (I'm trying to find one in Durham, NC)

For me the taper was horrible, I have a double nape piercing and I swear I could hear the skin slicing (probably not but you know how the mind plays tricks). After that though it was fine, taper didn't hurt whatsoever, it just felt like he was pinching my neck (he was). Although since on one my tissues weren't separating correctly he had to use a needle and that wasn't pleasant.
You should seriously rethink this though, surface bars on a hip piercing are pretty much guaranteed rejection and massive scarring. I can't think of ONE reason you would chose a surface bar over a microdermal, they are less painful, heal faster and have a MUCH lower rejection rates, the only down side is they are more expensive (of course money spent on a surface bar that just rejects in a couple of months isn't exactly a bargain). They even scar less since they don't actually remove a hunk of skin like the punch.
