How to combat metal allergies?
I cannot use any sterling silver, stainless steel or gold earrings (24K, yes) without accompanied pain and oozing. I use nickle-free earrings and have no problems except for this gross smell that collects in my piercing holes and earrings/backings. I clean my ears and earrings and let them soak in H2O2, but the smell always comes back. Also, when I take out my earrings, quite often there is some black stuff stuck in my piercing holes (I am able to usually get it out). Anyone experience anything similar?
My other problem is that I've recently developed a sensitivity to a high-quality bracelet-like watch (silver-plated copper, I was told by a jeweler) that I've used for at least the past 4 years. Think clear nail polish around the inside of the band will do the trick?
Its crazy because I have the same problem!!! I thought I was the only one... as for the clear nail polish question, my dermatologist told me the same thing, needless to say it does work. As for the earings I need some help there also.
