Spark Plug Terminal
When you get bit by a rattlesnake, and you are in the middle of nowhere, Does using your car's ignition help?
I hunt in an area that has rattlesnakes, and I am 140 miles from the nearest town, and my cell phone does not work in that area - so 911 will not work. The nearest hospital that I know is 210 miles away. My friend told me that if I get bit, I should take a spark plug wire off my distributor cap and run a wire from the distributor terminal to one end of the bite and ground the other end of the bite so no back current flows to the heart, then let the car run for approx 20 minutes, then I could buy the time I need to drive 210 miles to the nearest hospital. Is this recommended?
I have never heard of that. But if you were to get bit, as soon as possible after it happens,wrap something around your leg or where ever the bite is right above the bite to help cut off the blood flow to try an keep it from going up. Then try to suck the venom out, as much as you can.I know that sounds nasty but if thats all you can do, then you've got to do what you have to do. But I don't know if that would be enough to get you to a hospital especially that far away. If I were you, I would consider wearing hip boots.
