What more can I do to secure my apartment?
I live in an apartment...
The only windows are several sliding doors, which have lock bars and are inaccessible except via a private balcony
The front door is my main concern...
It only has a deadbolt... that's it
What more can I do to secure my front door from burglars etc. ?
As far as you being gone, their isn't much you can do. Your front door is only as safe as your frame construction. A determined burglar will get in. For when your home, you can install a drop bar across the door. However, my previous statement applies. It is only as strong as your door frame construction.
