Set Metric Warranty
Any ideas on a quality socket set?
I'm looking for a quarter inch socket set of both metric and standard. I have been shopping around online and in stores and I have come across a very nice variety of brands. I was wondering what you guys would recommend. I like to work on cars and I like to do simple home repair whenever I have free time. While looking at the many different brand names, they all offer the same things. Durability, comfort, warranty. What brands have you guys been loyal to throughout the years? My father has been a huge craftsman fan for as long as I can remember. I might just end up buying their stuff unless you guys can persuade me, otherwise. Your knowledge and experiences will be much appreciated!
craftsman is high enough quality for professional daily use, but cheap enough for everybody to buy.
snap-on, mac and other tools sold of a truck are also proffesnional level quality, but they are priced to match it.
i'm a mechanic, i make my money using tools. i buy craftsman hand tools.
i buy craftsman cordless tools (19.2 volt, you can get ANYTHING cordless from craftsman), other then dewalt at a much higher price they are the best you can get.
the only thing i buy something other then craftsman on routinely is air tools. i go with ingersol-rand for air tools. sears carries them too anyways.
the one thing i will point out, buy sets. buy the biggest set you can possibly justify and get everything you can possibly get at once.
thats always the best way to buy tools. a 1/2" wrench by itself may cost $10, as part of a basic tool set it may be down to $2, as part of their ultimate set its only a penny or two.
i have always wished i had the money to buy that 5,000+ piece set at the beginning. its more tools then i currently own and costs much less then i have spent already.
