Automotive help. Car hasn't been started for 3 years?
Hello, just looking for some advice from a mechanic on what to do to start a car that hasnt run for several years. I recently bought a 98 pontiac firebird that ran fine before but the guy had let it set in the driveway and said it hasnt been started for 3 yrs. What would I go about doing to get it running again? I'm assuming a new battery but wondered what else and if I could do it myself? I am far from a mechanic and don't know that much about cars but would love to get this thing running again. Thanks.
it would be good to change the gas, obviously, and get the oil primed before hand.
dont change the oil before the first start up, some people swear by it... but id say the last thing it needs is low oil pressure for its first couple seconds of running after 3 years
