how do i get the steering wheel nut back on the steering wheel shaft?
I replaced the ignition lock cylinder in a 94 chevy 1500. I finally got the
ring back into place holding back the retaining plate, after putting all the other parts under the steering wheel where they belong (turn sig, etc...) I'm trying to simply put the steering wheel back on the shaft by simply placing it on and tightening the nut i had to take off in the initial stages. This is proving another headache. Once the steering wheel is set back on the shaft, and pushed down relatively lightly by hand, the shaft appears about level with the center hole of the wheel, another words it is like the shaft is not long enough because i cannot get the nut on the shaft once the wheel is on. What is the problem? I thought i didn't need the steering wheel puller to put the wheel back on, ????
The steering wheel needs to be pushed down further. Either you need to push harder or the ring is in the wrong place.
