My XBOX 360 is showing a ring of red light when its swithched on...does anyone know why?
The 360 was bought in the UK over a year ago. I transported it by hand luggage to North America (Canada).
I have a TV that plays PAL and HD, I know the PAL works because I have previously played PAL devices on the TV.
The power supply is going through an US / UK adapter.
When the 360 is switched on, there is a ring of solid red light, on constant around the power button. The big power supply transformer thing has a yellow light. I know when the 360 is on this changes to green. I have checked all cables and they look fine. The 360 makes no sound.
Does anyone know what the problem is? I think its either a power thing or my 360 got damaged during the trip. A new power supply for north america will cost 50 pound and I dont want to risk buying one if it doesnt work.
1 lights=Internal error e.g. DVD drive or hard drive
2 lights=Overheated
3 lights=General hardware failure
4 lights=TV cable not connected properly
By the way everyone ille tell you the main fault that causes Xbox 360s to fail. The Xbox 360's GPU gets extremely hot and because its held on with very week solder the solder melts and the GPU literally falls off.
To test if its happened to unplug all cables from you're 360 and lightly shake it, if something is rattling about inside you're GPU has fallen off.
