Extensions Spark Plug
I cut an extension cord that had power going to it and now I don't have power in many of my outlets?
I was using a corded chainsaw when I accidentally sliced through the extension cord it was plugged into... oops. There was a bright spark and now the outlet the cord was plugged into (outside outlet) and a few other outlets don't have power. Nothing tripped in the breaker box but I reset them all anyway. Problem still persists. Any ideas on what to do next?
Thanks for the answer Steve - I've rechecked the breaker box. Everythings as it should be there.
Take a closer look at the breaker box. I am willing to BET you tripped a breaker and when you tried to reset them, you did not fully shut off the tripped breaker allowing it to be reset. The only other option is you actually FRIED the wiring before the breaker was able to trip.
Edit: Another question just reminded me you said this is an outside outlet. That means the outlet is required to be protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. All the dead outlets are probably protected by the same outlet. Check anywhere new water for a tripped GCFI.
