Help making a grand finale assortment for my fourth of July party?

Last year I had a really cool assortment. I used a sheet of plywood and used caulking to stick the different fireworks to the plywood. Then I used a very long loop of wick and attached all the individual fireworks wicks to it with a little bit of tape. I lit the large loop on both ends and it the assortment worked really well.

I was wondering if there is a better way to do this. To maybe better regulate the pauses between fireworks and to help overall efficiency. Will different types of wick help? Is there a better way to attach the wicks than tape? Any tips or ideas are appreciated.

(I know the risk and danger involved in fireworks, including legality. I have been handling them since I was a child. I am not interested in opinions on whether or not I should be doing this)

The easiest way to control the timing, is with different speed fuses.

The main two fuses you will need are:

"green visco" which is the regular burning fuse

"super quick" which burns at about .2 seconds per foot!

You can also buy the medium speed on the site if you really want nice control but I don't think it would be necessary for your purposes. I highly recommend buying from this site. They are the cheapest on the web and they are very reliable. I have been buying from them for a couple of years, good quality too.

The bast way i have found to link fuses together is masking tape, the kind that is like sticky paper. It holds on very nicely. Heres a tip though, when you tape the connection fuse to the firework, tape the fuse to the plywood about 6 inches before the actual fuse connection and give it some slack, that way, if it gets pulled, it will be less likely to rip off the firework. But this is not necessary.

More tips:
Try to get three pieces of plywood to fill with your fireworks and then tilt one to the left 45 or less degrees (no more or it might tip!!), keep one pointed straight up and the other tilted to the right.
Make sure the spectators are far enough away (100 feet or so) to get the full effect. Also, have the fireworks secured COMPLETELY!
